Logan County Fair Cake Classic
Auction still a sweet attraction
he Logan County Fair Cake Classic Auction
continues to hold great interest and support
for the 4-H. On Sunday afternoon eight cakes
were auctioned off for a grand sum of $4,050.
The funds go to the 4-H Foundation to continue
support of programs.
Much cooler weather was definitely appreciated
this year as the cakes were baked in the Lincoln
Stage exhibit area. Baking began about 2 p.m.,
and cakes were all cooled, frosted and waiting
under glass domes for judge Cindy Friedrich
from Havana to begin her testing at 5 p.m.
If you are wondering how a cake judge main-
tains a slim figure, one of her other noted pas-
times is running.
Last year, the 2011 Logan County Fair queen,
Kelsi Ubbenga, had just learned to bake and
entered her spice cake. She returned this year
with a white butter cake recipe.
LDN congratulates each and every baker.
Putting the event together was Deb Rohrer,
superintendent, with the help of Janet Dahmm,
past superintendent, and assistants Emily
Davenport, Julie Bobb, Megan Opperman and
Blanche Coers (absent).
On hand to present awards were 2013 Miss Lo-
gan County Fair Crystal Quint, Little Miss Celia
Cross and Dean Bruns, president of the fair.
