Wilhite and Neitzel spoke first expressing
appreciation for the festival on the whole,
and talking about how the festival is another
positive community event that brings people
to Lincoln. Rankin talked about the move
of the festival and the hopes that the new
location at the Postville Courthouse and
Postville Park will be received well by
visitors.
Ladd commented that he was
very pleased to see the festival
come to the new location. Noting
that all three locations, including
the Mill, are on Route 66, and it
is a very fitting location for that
reason and also because the
fesitval honors an old tradition
that Abraham Lincoln himself
participated in, ‘railsplitting.’ He
said that having the festival
where Lincoln spent time was
more than fitting. Later in the
morning, the partnering with
the Salt Creek A.B.AT.E. would
be hosting a new event in
conjunction with the festival, a
Route 66 Motorcycle show.
