In addition to survivors, the Relay
recognizes those who make up the
support system for each cancer
victim. Those people are often family
members who struggle with their own
emotional turmoils while keeping a
positive attitude and a smiling face
for the one who is fighting the battle.
Many give up time with friends and
other family, and time away from
their work, so as to be devoted to
their loved one who is fighting the
battle of his or her life.
As the caregivers gathered and passed
beneath the starting hoop, they too
were given a flower in respect and
appreciation for what they do.
