Page 201 Lincoln Daily News 2026 Logan County Fair August 2026 The steer show began with the Black Angus cattle, followed by the Hereford, Shorthorn, Simmental, any other breed, and then commercial heifers. Competitors brought each animal into the barn and did one lap before organizing themselves, and their steer, facing the entrance door. Some classes had just one or two while others had half a dozen or more. The competitors would line their cattle up one after the other, sometimes having to take a short lap if their animal needed to be moved. After each class, Rhode explained what he liked about each steer and assigned first place and beyond depending on entrants. Winners of each class then returned to be chosen as champion and reserve champion steer of their category.
