Emi Sunshine
charms audience at the National Railsplitting Festival
As dusk settled over the prairie on Saturday evening, the strong clear voice of Emi Sunshine
carried over the Pioneer Village on the Logan County Fairground.
Emi, accompanied by her family of musicians, warmed the hearts of all as she spoke to the
audience like they were friends, and then belted out a variety of bluegrass, gritty blues and
spirituals. Song after song she gave an amazing performance with strength and depth beyond
her nine years living.
Emi’s tremendous performance was a great way to end the beautiful day out of doors,
especially for those who would be back to work or to
compete in ‘Splitter’ events again on Sunday.
Geoff Ladd of Illinois Route 66 welcomed Emi to the
Railsplitter stage and presented her with a Route 66
T-shirt.
