aturday was a great day to spend outside in the sunshine and folks took advantage of

that to attend the 42nd annual Abraham Lincoln National Railsplitting Festival at the

        Logan County Fairgrounds.

The day kicked off with a ribbon-cut. Then the gates were opened and visitors were

welcomed into a time gone by as they had the opportunity to see what life was like in the days

        of Abraham Lincoln.

Included in this year’s attractions were the antique tractor and car shows that have become a

tradition of this event. The pioneer village is another tradition.

This year there were also some new attractions such as the Dan Tackett Bluegrass Jam, the

        “

Pleasant Sage” play and the barn dance at the end of the day.

Geoff Ladd, director of the Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of Logan County, said he was

excited about the new features at the festival this year. He said the play and the bluegrass music

both were going to bring in more people to the event and the community in general.

Ladd also mentioned the Route 66 Shootout tournament hosted by the Lincoln Futbol Club

over the weekend. He said these events bring money into Logan County and raise awareness of

all Lincoln and Logan County have to offer.
