The Logan County Fair

At the far south end of the Logan County Fairgrounds, a little-known event has been taking place at the fair 20
years. The kiddie tractor pull attracts boys and girls to try their might at peddling a tractor weighted by a sleigh.
The competition is divided by weight classes.
First up to weigh in this year was a girl. But when friendly judge Jim Drew invited her to step up on the scales,
she was too shy and a boy went first, so she was then second. The boys weren’t bashful at all, and one even
enjoyed having his picture taken with 2011 Little Miss Logan County Julia Collins.
To start, an older boy first peddled as far as he could, and the track was marked for a distance goal. Then
contestants took turns in order of their weigh-in. Families cheered and encouraged each competitor to go for the
goal. Everyone tried hard, but for some it was over in a much shorter distance than for others -- whether bigger
or more determined -- who made the full course.
