Page 2 2022 PAINT THE PAPER PINK Lincoln Daily News Oct/Nov 2022 Each year, Lincoln Daily News kicks off the pink shirt pictures for a month of Paint the Paper Pink with that of the gang and Collision Concepts in Lincoln. We do so because the idea of painting the paper pink was the brainchild of Cindy Guyett and the late Roy Logan. Both had friends and family who had experienced cancer in some form. Some had won their battles, and others had found the final victory as they passed from this world to the subsequent pain-free and whole. The pair thought that it was time for the community to become involved in supporting the warriors. They knew LDN could be a part of helping to educate women and men on things such as early detection and developing lifestyle habits that would hinder, if not prevent, the occurrence of cancer. That first Paint the Paper Pink event brought overwhelming results from the community, and Guyett, Logan, and Lincoln Daily News were thrilled by the response. That fall, Karen Hargis, Logan and Nila Smith started the Friends and Family Relay Team as a team participating in the Local Relay for Life events. The following year, Guyett and Logan were at it again and came up with the Pink Pumpkin Fundraiser Auction, which the community received very well. The team went on to
