S
aturday December 8th the community of Mt. Pulaski opened
the doors of some of their most beautifully decorated homes.
The tour of homes included the United Methodist church as
a starting point then four additional homes owned by Bob
and Robin Benson, Todd and Angie Cyrulik, Mark and Mary
McGee, and Dan and Kathy Jones.
The community holds
a tour of homes every
two years. This year the
proceeds from ticket sales
will go to the Mt. Pulaski
Courthouse Foundation.
The foundation was
recently formed to assist in
maintaining one of Mt.
Pulaski’s most treasured
historical buildings. In the
Mt. Pulaski Courthouse
Abraham Lincoln practiced
law as a circuit attorney.
He was fond of the community
and had many friends with whom he visited when he was in town.
The second floor of the building is the courtroom that has it’s
original wood flooring, the floor where Lincoln stood during trials such
as that of the Cast Iron Tombstone.
In taking the tour, visitors found that each location was absolutely
adorable in its decoration and design, and each location was
dramatically different from the last. The church and four homes in
the tour demonstrated beautifully that no matter what your taste,
Christmas is universal and fits inside any décor.
