Cherry Swirl Coffee Cake

“A quick and easy morning coffee
cake or dessert.”
1 1/2 cups
sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1/2 cup Crisco
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon almond extract
4 eggs
3 cups flour
1 can (21 oz.) cherry pie filling
Glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar
1-2 drops almond extract
2 tablespoons milk (as needed)
Heat oven to
350º. Generously grease 15 x 10 inch pan. Blend sugar, butter,
Crisco, baking powder, vanilla, almond extract and eggs in large
mixing bowl on low speed scraping bowl constantly. Beat 3 minutes on
high speed. Stir in flour until well blended. Spread 2/3 batter in
pan. Spread pie filling over batter. Drop remaining batter by
spoonfuls on top of cherry filling. Bake 40 minutes. Mix glaze
ingredients together and drizzle over cooled cake.
