Page 44 2026 Spring Farm Outlook LINCOLN DAILY NEWS March 2026 Logan County Farm Bureau Scholarships: Where are they now? Since 2004, Logan County Farm Bureau has been awarding scholarships to high school seniors and college students studying agriculture or related fields. To be eligible, scholars must have a parent or guardian that is a member of the Logan County Farm Bureau in good standing. Scholarship recipients are announced each year at the annual Ag Breakfast. Many of the scholarship recipients are still in agriculture and some have chosen to make Logan County their home. Let’s walk down memory lane and check in with some of those scholarship recipients and see where they are now. Kristy Morrow Kristy Morrow received a scholarship in 2025. Kristy is a 2025 graduate of Lincoln Community High School and is currently a freshman at the University of Illinois, majoring in Agricultural and Consumer Economics with a concentration in Public Policy and Law. She is an active member of 4-H House with 55 other agriculturally minded young ladies, a member of the Collegiate Farm Bureau, ASL Club, and Bridge Illini on Campus. Kristi recognizes the cost of higher education and says that it has always been her goal to graduate debt free. She says, “the Farm Bureau Scholarship eased that financial burden, allowing me to focus more fully on my academic and personal growth.” Kristi is looking forward to internship opportunities over the summer and gaining some hands-on experience. Abby Montgomery Abby Montgomery is a 2023 graduate of Hartsburg-Emden High School and a 2023 scholarship recipient. Abby is currently a junior at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale pursuing a bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in Psychology and a focus in Equine Studies. Abby says, “Receiving the Farm Bureau Scholarship has benefited me in a multitude of ways. It provided financial assistance toward living Photo provided by Kristy Morrow
