Friday’s competition had a junior division and two challenge classes in addition to potted plants, cut flowers, arrangements, herbs and herb arrangements. The junior division is open for kids under 17 with cut flower annuals and perennials as well as two options for arrangements. Friday’s themes included Route 66 and America. Herb arrangements showcased three categories. After the judging was completed, ribbons and points were totaled from both Tuesday and Friday’s competition to determine the champion exhibitor. This award goes to the person with the most blue ribbons in all classes from both shows. The sweepstakes award is the William Kavelman Memorial award, which goes to the exhibitor with the highest points total for both Tuesday and Friday. Floriculture was a family affair, with the gardening gene passing down through the generations. Jenna Conrady and her sons Easton and Reid each won awards as did Jim Wessbecher and his granddaughter Kaelyn Wessbecher.
