Page 100 2026 Animal Stories Lincoln Daily News February 2026 Buddy Pet Parent(s): Victoria Walker This is my best friend Buddy. She passed away in 2024 from cancer. I found buddy when I was only eight years old under an abandoned trailer (I’m currently 23). Since then it’s been history. I never had friends growing up but she knew immediately she was my best friend in this entire world and same with me. We would go to school together, friends’ houses, church, and even different states when I got my license at 16. We would go in random fields and star gaze together. I’ve never in my life met a dog so human-like with connection and understanding as this dog had. She never missed a beat, she always knew exactly what I needed or wanted in the moment. She understood how to play tag, look both ways before crossing a street, go down slides, and climb park tires to have fun with me when I was younger. The same day I found her cancer I went and got a watercolor tattoo of her face on my arm so she could be with me forever. Her collar and tags hang on the rearview mirror of my car so she can continue going on trips with me even in the afterlife. Best part is, the same tattoo artist went to school with me and KNEW the connection me and buddy had together. She allowed her to come into the shop to get it done with me. I will forever cherish that moment. Best buddies till the end right, Buddy?
