Now catch this: the wise men in the Christmas story came looking and asking, “Where is he born King of the Jews.” Jesus would often speak of his “coming kingdom.” The soldiers placed a crown of thorns on his head and mockingly declared, “Hail, King of the Jews!” When Pilate is questioning Jesus, he asked, “Are you a King?” Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world.” Pilate said, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, “You are right in saying I am a King.” A sign was placed above Jesus’ head on the cross that read, “King of the Jews.” Do you really believe this was all by accident? I don’t! From his birth to his death, Jesus is a King. But not like any King we have ever known. This is the kind of King you want to be identified with.
