Page 364 Lincoln Daily News 2025 Logan County Fair Jul/Aug 2025 Cake Classic Auction brings in over $6200 As the 88th Logan County Fair neared its end, a 58 year tradition continued with several cakes being baked and judged before a live audience then auctioned off to the highest bidders to raise money for 4-H. Judging the cakes was Micah Wakefi eld, who went to Culinary school in Seattle and has worked as an executive chef in the baking industry. She made comments on the taste and appearance of each cake then wrote down the total scores. Along with many veterans in the cake classic were new competitors Olivia Wrage and Neely Petty. Cake Classic Superintendent Samantha Danosky is thankful for the sponsors such as McEntire’s Appliance, Darlene Begolka and Little Brown Cow Dairy who make the cake classic possible. There were eight cakes auctioned off by Ty Tucker, which raised $6225. This amount will go directly to Logan County 4-H to support their programs. At a record $2000, Nathan “Nibs” Giesky was top bidder for the fi rst place cake. First place went to newcomer Olivia Wrage, who is just 12 years old. Her cake was a blueberry lemon cake, which was the baker’s choice cake. Though Wrage was new to this competition, she previously won awards for baked goods in the children’s section. Culler donated a basket for the winner, which is a cake classic tradition. Continued --
