Continued -- Each time a class came in, Lowers took several minutes looking over the animals. He would walk around each side of them, directing the contestants to move the animals about so he could get a good look. Once he had made up his mind, he would direct the kids to line up from fi rst to last in their class. He would talk about the animals before their owners walked them out of the barn. Lowers was careful to mention both the good things about each animal as well as what could be improved. He also made sure not to diminish any of the animals or contestants, especially those that did not win. In one case, Lowers was extremely impressed with one of the steers. This was an all black steer led by Grayson Foran. Lower stated that “this is what show steers are made of,” and stated that Foran “brought a fi ghter jet to a water balloon fi ght.” The new Logan County Fair Royalty was on hand for the fi rst part of the steer show. Vayda Farmer (Little Miss Logan County), Courtney Cecil (Junior Miss Logan County), and Julia Collins (Miss Logan County Fair Queen) handed out ribbons and banners to those who won them.
