Master Gardeners agree to attend local meetings, volunteer 20 hours per year, and complete 10 hours of continuing education each year. Master Gardeners have a variety of options to complete their 20 hours of yearly volunteer service. Answering questions for the Master Gardener Help Desk and Plant Clinics by phone, email, or in person is a key way to complete service. Volunteers may also work in demonstration gardens, community gardens, and information booths. Volunteers may teach gardening classes or provide presentations or participate in media such as writing columns and providing content for radio and television. Continuing education credits may be pursued online or at in-person gardening events. Both volunteer and education opportunities must be approved by the local Master Gardener coordinator. Logan County Master Gardeners plant and maintain the flower beds at the Logan County Fairgrounds, Scully Park, and the native plants bed at the Oasis Senior Center. They also host the Russel Allen Garden Day as a community horticultural education event every March and provide educational events at the LMH Farmers’ Market during the summer at the fairgrounds. They welcome more members to join them in their efforts of community beautification and horticulture education. Interested?
