Page 44 2024 Logan County Spring Farm Magazine LINCOLN DAILY NEWS March 2024 2023 Crop Yields Report The National Ag Statistics Office has released the preliminary county crop yields for the 2023 growing season. The State average corn yield was 206 bushels per acre. The 2022 average for the State was 214 bushels per acre. Logan County had an average yield of 211.1 bushels per acre, which compared to the 2022 yield of 229.1. Top yielding counties for 2023 were Stark with 223.1, Henderson with 229.7, Carroll with 229.5, Mercer at 226.6, and Macon at 225.3 bushels per acre. The top producing county in bushels was McLean County with 70,336,000. Logan County produced 36,985,000 bushels from 175,200 acres harvested. The high year for Logan County was 2018 with 236.2. The State average soybean yield was 63 bushels per acre. Logan County once again had enough survey respondents to establish an individual county yield, with an average of 68.4. The high yield was set in 2022 at 71.8. The top producing soybean counties were Tazewell with 74.7, Piatt at 74.2, Moultrie 72.5, Champaign 72.2, and Sangamon at 72.1 bushels per acre. The top producing county was once again McLean County with 21,587,000 bushels. Below are corn and soybean yields from the last 10 years, from the National Ag Statistics Service. Yield values are preliminary when released and may be corrected. Some years did not have enough respondents to publish a yield on an individual county basis.
