Page 266 Lincoln Daily News 2024 Logan County Fair Jul/Aug 2024 As the 88th Logan County Fair neared its end, a 58 year tradition continued with several cakes being baked and judged before a live audience then auctioned off to the highest bidders to raise money for 4-H. Cake Classic Auction raises $4,300 for the Logan County 4-H Foundation Continued -- Judging the cakes was Tami Thomas, who went Culinary Institute of America and has worked in the baking industry. She made comments on the taste and appearance of each cake then wrote down the total scores. Top four winners Rose Harrold, Shannon Carter, Alex Bergin and Jeanne Runyon. Along with many veterans in the cake classic were new competitors Shannon Carter, Tracy Bergin and Alex Bergin. Cake Classic superintendent Samantha Danosky is thankful for the sponsors such as McEntire’s Appliance, Darlene Begolka and Samsational Sweets who make the cake classic possible. There were eight cakes auctioned off by Ty Tucker, which raised $4300. This amount will go directly to Logan County 4-H to support their programs. At $675, Darci Culler was top bidder for the first place cake. Culler also donated a basket for the winner.
