We were living out by the golf course. But I’ve loved horses all my life. Had them since I was a kid but when Scott and I moved to Kentucky, I sold everything. Almost four years later when he got transferred back, I was pregnant, so horses were out of the picture. But every year, I went to the horse fair in March in Springfield. The kids (who were teenagers) and Scott were with me one year. We kept walking through the sale barns and I was so drawn to her. The owner said let us get her (April) out and show you how she works. I kept saying no, but they did anyway. Took her to the barn and turned her loose in a round pen. Told her to walk, trot and canter both directions. And when the owner said, Whoa, April walked up to me and put her head on my shoulder. SHE PICKED ME!!!! That is why she was my heart horse."
