Karen Sandel top baker at the 2023 Cake Classic at the Logan County Fair Auction brings in $2,740 Judging the cakes was Tami Thomas, who went to culinary school and has worked in the baking industry. While almost all the bakers are veterans of the cake classic, Hannah Meece was a new face this year. Cake Classic Superintendent Samantha Danosky is thankful for all the sponsors who help make the cake classic possible. Sponsors included McEntire’s Home Appliance and TV supplied the ovens, Darlene Begolka supplied the Tupperware for the cakes, Samsational Sweets supplied the boxes and gift bags and baskets for the participants. Other sponsors were Seth Goodman, StuffedAria, Guest House, LMH market, Cullers Fries and Top Hat. At the auction, the eight cakes auctioned by Ty Tucker raised a total of $2,740. This entire amount will go directly to the Logan County 4-H to support programs throughout the year. After cake classic results were announced, cake was auctioned off by Tucker. Once each cake was auctioned, some of the bakers posed for a photo with the buyer and Logan County Fair Queen Ellyn Martinez, Junior Miss Ellie Wrage and Little Miss Kodi Eigenbrod. Marvin Bartman was the top bidder $1,650 for the first-place cake. Continued --
