Page 34 Excellence In Education Lincoln Daily News January 25, 2023 Junior high students participate in a “PAW Party” each quarter in the gym. This is where cooperative learning games are played with staff and faculty such as “Minute to Win It.” Students have the opportunity to win big prizes (for their PAW prints) such as gift cards to Wal-Mart, Target, restaurants, etc. At the end of the party, the new theme is introduced and discussed. WLB also focuses on Restorative Practice using Restorative Circles on Monday and Friday mornings and/or whenever needed in classrooms. These circles serve as a way to solve issues that may arise or just for classmates and teachers to have a discussion. The Restorative approach has worked very well at WLB. It teaches students to communicate effectively and learn to problem- solve and deal with emotions.
