Page 30 Excellence In Education Lincoln Daily News January 25, 2023 were excited about the projects that were connected to the curriculum by using designing strategies and problem-solving skills. Students benefited from the “hands on” activities. When finished, the projects and the activities produced a completed product for the students, unique to their problem-solving skills. The projects that the teachers developed aligned to the grade level curriculum. They vary in subject area from technology, science, chemistry, engineering, math, reading, and social studies. A variety of materials were used, and the project outcomes all varied. Various projects were whether an item will sink or float, Legos and fraction problems, design a boat that will be “seaworthy” and carry people, design a Macy’s Day Parade balloon float, coding using the Tynker app, and three forms of matter and which one will fill the balloon with air. These types of activities show students there is no right answer, and there is more than one solution to a problem. These activities also relate to the real world and will be valuable to the students as they solve real life problems throughout their school years and beyond in their careers and life. Will it float?
