Excellence In Education Lincoln Daily News January 25, 2023 Page 17 By Olympia Staff On November 30, eight Olympia Middle School STEM students attended the Section 9 FFA Dairy Products Career Development Event. The team was second in the middle school division and earned 8th overall. In individual competitions, Levi Hanlin was 14th overall out of 62 students. The sixth and seventh-grade STEM students have been learning about the science and technology involved in the dairy industry and this was the perfect opportunity for them to apply the knowledge and skills they learned outside of the classroom. Seventh grade team member, Levi Hanlin, said, “I learned that there is a lot more to milk production than the average person would think. More people should know about dairy production. The Dairy Products CDE was a good way to learn more about it. I hope we get more chances to learn more about agriculture and get more people involved with agriculture and FFA.” Olympia Middle School Provides Hands-On Opportunities Section 9 Dairy Foods Dairy Products CDE Team members included (front form the left): Karma Kashner, Maria Taliafero-Martinez, Ariana Whinna, Levi Hanlin, and Nolan Birky.
