By Superintendent Brandi Bruley, NHM District 88 Students at New Holland Middletown Elementary are getting geared up to celebrate their 100th day of the 2022-23 school year on Monday, January 30th. Among the plans for the celebration is a dress up day when students will dress up to look 100 years old. The five classrooms of the kindergarten through fourth grade students plan to make a paper chain with 100 loops or links. Each class will make 20 loops, choosing one color to represent the class. For example, the first- grade class will use pinkish purple while the third-grade class picked blue. Students are also excited about an opportunity to send post cards to other schools that are 100 miles away. Students will write postcards that will be mailed on the 100th day. As a community service project, the students will be collecting items for the local animal shelters. Students have set a goal of gathering 100 items such as food, kitty litter, toys and more. There will also be other projects throughout the day including lessons on graphing, sorting, and physical exercise, all with the 100-day theme.
