Excellence In Education Lincoln Daily News January 25, 2023 Page 11 things ethically and treating fellow workers and customers with kindness and compassion, and students learn that in our school from the very beginning. At Zion, we gather for chapel every week and learn about Jesus, who he is and what he has done for us. Jesus is the Son of God who made the world, and He is our savior who died for us on the cross. And that reality permeates through everything we do at our school. In science we get to learn about the world God created for us and how it works. In Language Arts we get to read about that world and understand the beauty of language; we get a window into compassion and understanding through these stories. In social studies we get to learn about the people in the world around us that God has given to us to be our neighbors and our ancestors. During the pandemic so many things happened online and so many things happened in isolation. That had a huge negative impact on education. We are a people made for community. A letter is rare but neat, a phone call is great, and talking to someone miles away on a video chat is even better. But nothing compares to being in the same room with someone. We communicate better, we learn better, we build relationships better. Things are better in person. Many people get an education online and it is a wonderful resource for them because it might not be possible otherwise. But being in the classroom with friends and with a teacher who loves their students, that is the best way. We get to be like family and care for one another and help each other grow. Picking a local school in Logan County is not easy. There are many great options. Students can get a good education in any of our local schools, but we believe an excellent education is one that cares for and develops the whole student. Excellent academics, excellent social and emotional development, excellent physical development, but also excellent spiritual development. That is what makes up an excellent education. And that is what we strive to do at Zion Lutheran School in Mount Pulaski. Find out more about Zion Lutheran School in Mount Pulaski by phone 217-792-5715 or email office@zionmp.org .
