2022 Education Magazine LINCOLN DAILY NEWS February / March 2022 Page 37 Wednesdays have become “Write About it Wednesdays” where students respond to a journal prompt in a running log and share their responses with their group if they choose to do so. Example prompts have included getting over a difficult experience, describing ways in which students see themselves changing, and telling about an awesome time in their lives. “Think About it Thursdays” are used for free discussion among the group. Topics and questions are also provided if a group needs a starting point. Discussion prompts have included items like active listening, effective communication, setting goals, optimistic thinking, respect, manners, and stress. Finally, Fridays are our “Fun Fridays” where we hold fun activities…sometimes in the gym with everyone, sometimes scavenger hunts in small groups, and sometimes small group games. Regardless of the day, Advisory provides students an opportunity in the middle of the day to unwind and focus on the non- academic aspects of life to help them grow into even more amazing young adults! It is an opportunity to develop meaningful and appropriate relationships with peers and faculty members and will provide students with memories to last a lifetime.
