In Lincoln's office in Washington, he often sat at his
desk, with the only light coming from the single window
in the room.
In the midst of a war, he pondered often what was
happening on the battlefront.
In this unique and beautiful display in the museum,
visitors have the opportunity to see the room and
perhaps enter into Lincoln's thoughts as he worries over
the soldiers.
The room is divided into two parts: one part the office,
but in front of the desk is a scene inside an army tent:
a table, a cot and a lantern — the place Civil War
commanders called home.
