AIRPORT
33 balloons to participate in this year's launches, glows and fly-in
This year there are 33 balloons that will fill the skies for
the 40th annual Lincoln Art & Balloon Festival.
Among the group are many returning favorites that
have become not only a part of the fiber of the festival
but members of our community in their own special
way.
Folks who attend the festival this year can expect to see
a great launch on Friday evening, weather permitting.
With all the balloons in the air, drifting against what
is hoped will be a clear blue sky, the sight should be as
awesome as it has been in past years.
After the launch, about half of the balloons will return
to the Logan County Airport and inflate for the mag-
nificent night glow.
The glow of the balloons is a wonder in itself and a
thrill to young and old alike. As the announcer calls
out to pilots, asking all the lady pilots to glow, the lo-
cal pilots to glow, then maybe calling for a “wave,” the
audience won’t be able to resist being drawn into the
spirit of the event.
Among the many pilots attending this year, guests can
expect to see returning favorites like CaZooee, Good
and Plenty, Knot a Balloon and Mom’s Toy.
And, there will be some old friends in new balloons.
This year Seth Goodman, Max Mitchell, Pat Brouillet,
Dave Reineke and Scott Wooge will be sporting new
balloons.
LDN caught up with a few of these pilots this week,
and they were happy to spend a few minutes talking
about their new balloons and their love of flying. Be
sure to check out all their stories in the articles posted
in today’s edition.
And better yet, come out to the airport, where you can
visit directly with them during the glow times.
