For lunch, the daily special on Saturday will
be a pulled pork sandwich with baked beans, chips
and a drink. Sunday, the special will be chicken and
noodles with a vegetable side and drink.
At the Oasis Center
Saturday morning breakfast will also be available at
the Oasis Senior Center and will feature biscuits and
gravy, juice, and coffee.
Lunchtime sandwiches at the center will include
the pulled pork sandwich and hot dogs, available
with chips and a choice of coffee, tea or water.
The center will also feature the same lunchtime
specials on Saturday and Sunday as in the park.
In addition, the center will host a bake sale of
items made by local bakers.
“The Oasis pool table will serve as the tasty place
in town for some real homemade items,” Dalpoas
said. “All of our members contribute their finest
baked goods to make ours a little bit different and
somewhat better than most. After all, who in this
town bakes the best homemade cookies, brownies,
pies, cakes and other desserts than our seniors?”
Dalpoas also noted that the Oasis Craft Shop will
have some excellent items for sale as well.
“The Oasis craft group has been working at a
feverish pace to stock our inside craft mall with the
latest bargain-priced decorations for your home,
office or wherever you want to place each and every
item,” he said. “The center is air-conditioned to make
your shopping adventure a little less tiring. There
truly are some really great bargains in our very own
gift shop.”
For those who are looking for a little relaxation
and an opportunity to just enjoy the atmosphere
of the market, there will be live entertainment on
Saturday and Sunday both. Visitors can sit in the
shaded areas of the park and enjoy some great music
while they rest up and get ready to move on to the
next event.
The Country Mavericks will perform on Saturday
from noon to 2:30 p.m.
On Sunday the live entertainment will be
impersonator Jerry Armstrong. Armstrong is tagged
as a singer and comedy impressionist. He offers
his interpretations of such well-known entertainers
as Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Tom Jones, Neil
Diamond and Elvis.
In addition to all this, Scully Park itself is just a really
nice place to visit. The highlight of the park is the lovely
fountain in the center. This summer the fountain got a
little bit of a facelift, as it was drained and a new coat of
sky-blue paint was added to the pool.
The area around the fountain features great places to
sit, relax a bit and just enjoy the glory of the day.
Scully also features a nice playground for the kids,
and it too has been refreshed this year with new mulch
and landscape timbers. For the youngsters, it is a great
place to expend some energy and give them a little break
from shopping.
With so much going on this weekend, it might be a bit
hard to make it to every spot, but it will be well worth
your time to make a point of visiting Scully Park, and
with three days to choose from, surely you’ll be able to
work it in.
