2012 Art and Balloon Festival
Balloons take flight on media night
Thursday evening was a perfect evening for taking a hot air balloon flight. Winds were low, the
sky was clear, and everyone was in the mood to take to the sky.
Of course, taking a peaceful balloon ride doesn’t just happen. There is a lot of work involved in
getting the balloon off the ground, but once you catch sight of the magnificent views below, you
soon see that it is well worth the effort.
“The flight was incredible! It was very serene, and you could clearly hear people shouting
hello, dogs barking and cattle,” said LDN photographer Jessie Eynon. “The landing was more
rough than I think any of us anticipated. When I heard the other crew on the ground shouting
‘ditch!’ I knew we were not just going to have a bumpy landing. When we finally stopped, the
basket was on the ground on its side. We were all fine and I thought it was a blast.”
Thanks to Scott Wooge of St. Louis, his crew and of course his beautiful balloon, That Way!,
for a very enjoyable evening.
