Other activities fill the day
The Relay for Life co-chairs for this year were Tonita Reifsteck and Devon Vannoy. They had a
team of volunteers that kept everything moving along throughout the day according to plan.
The committee does a lot of behind the scenes
work in organizing the event, seeking donations
for the silent auction, live auction, and for the
roses handed out to the survivors.
Throughout the evening, there were other great
events going on during the laps. Walkers were
given the opportunity to create a Relay for Life
Key Chain by collecting beads at the end of their
lap.
The keychain project was led by Deb Cooley,
who was also overseeing the silent auction and
served as cashier for the live auction. Dennis
Cooley and the Cooley family also worked with
the live auction.
There was a silent auction with a huge variety of offerings. Darlene Begolka was on hand with
her Tupperware products. With each purchase, a donation was made to Relay for Life.
Entertainment throughout the
day included Audra’s School of
Dance, and vocalist and guitarist
Dan McLaughlin with a special
appearance by his grandson. Other
entertainment on the schedule
included Margaret Rubenacker,
Line Dancing with Tabitha, and
Zumba by Janell.
There was also plenty of time
for visiting with old friends and
making new ones, as many of
the teams had tents set up with
activities going on inside, or food
being offered as part of their
fundraising effort for Relay for
Life.
