SUBMITTED by Norma Winkel, George, Iowa
“Our family loves this one!”

Meatballs:
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup fine dry bread crumbs
1 egg, slightly beaten
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/2 cup warm water
1 1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon basil
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Spaghetti Sauce:
3 1/2 cups tomatoes
1 (6 oz.) can tomato paste
1/4 cup onion, chopped
2 cloves of garlic, minced
2 tablespoons chopped parsley
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon crushed oregano
1/4 teaspoon anise seed

To make meatballs: Combine the meat with the other ingredients and form into meat balls. In a skillet brown the meat slowly in a small amount of oil.
After the meat balls are browned, add the sauce ingredients and simmer uncovered for 1 1/2 to 2 hours or until thick. Do not let it boil, stirring occasionally. Serve over cooked spaghetti.
