			 Autumn Applesauce

				“My family loves my home-made applesauce.” 
				 
				8 apples, peeled, cored, and cut into chunks  
				1/3 cup water  
				1/4 cup sugar 
				1 teaspoon vanilla extract  
				optional spices: 
				1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon  
				1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg 
				 
				In 2-quart microwave-safe dish, combine apples and water. Cover 
				with lid or vented plastic wrap; microwave on high 12 to 14 
				minutes or until apples are tender. Stop microwave and stir 
				apples about every 4 minutes. Add sugar and spices; stir to 
				blend well. Microwave on high 3 minutes or until sugar 
				dissolves. Mash or puree apple mixture, may want to use a 
				strainer. Cool.
