A SENSE OF BALANCE!
P
ersonal philosophies seem to differ about what is the best way to live life. Some
people throw themselves into life, take on all the challenges they can and stoically
maneuver through all the hardships and difficulties they can possibly encounter.
Others seem to avoid all the stress
and challenges they can and zigzag
a course through life, attempting to
live lives of complete peace and calm,
retire early, make few changes, and
always take the same route home.
Neither
approach
is
wrong, but neither seem to
be practical or possible either. There
seems to be stress involved even in
the act of attempting to
avoid stress. And, trying
to live a life where stress is
the only thing in your life
is generally regarded as a
life of pure misery.
Perhaps thebest approachtolife is to
seek balance: not avoiding or inviting
stress but balancing it with rest,
relaxation, creativity and comfort,
spirituality and relationships.
Our homes should be designed to
not only provide a place for us to
rest our heads, but also be a refuge
from the world, a place to express
our creativity, and the place where
we rejuvenate ourselves and find
balance.

n this 2013 Spring Home Improvement
Magazine we have taken a different
approach with some alternative kinds of
subjects. We are looking
at the artsier side of life,
leaving out the list of building
materials and the list of tools, and
discussing subjects that might put
us on the trail to attain a sense of
healthy balance in our lives.
