DECKING THE HALLS
Yawn. Stretch.....
Maybe there really is something to that theory
that eating turkey makes you sleepy.
A
fter the THANKSGIVING
meal is eaten and the dishes
are washed, many families spend
their time together setting out
the Christmas decorations.
Huge boxes of lights,
ornaments, and special
Christmas paraphernalia
are hauled out of their
hiding places, and ooohs
and ahhhhs are heard
as various decorations are
discovered among the boxes.
It is a magical time when your
inner child comes out, and past
Christmases are remembered. It’s
a time of sharing as you explain
to the newer Christmas initiates
the important family decorating
stories.
Maybe a football game is being
ignored as it plays on the big
screenTV, becausethisdecorating
experience is serious stuff, buster
and it requires everybody’s help
and full attention.
Decorating the tree is often a subtle
mix of art and science, as
certain protocols have
to be observed like
whether the lights wrap
around clockwise or
counterclockwise, and
who gets to put the angel
on the top.
The special moment is when the
lights are turned on and the tree
goes from being an inanimate
object to becoming
The
living,
breathing
Christmas Tree
