All teachers had been trained to use Google features in order to implement this new technology in the classroom. The District was in the third year of the tech roll-out, and all students who did not have a chromebook had access to a lab device as they learned how to use Google Apps. Without question, Remote Learning due to the pandemic fast-tracked that plan. In order to provide Remote Instruction back in April of 2020, all students were given a device, which left no extra or spare equipment for the District. Through a series of grant opportunities, including the Emergency Connectivity Funds (ECF), the Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief Fund (ESSER), and the American Rescue Plan (ARP), the District has provided all students with a new chromebook. ECF funds made it possible for the District to purchase 800 student devices and 157 staff devices. District staff also benefit from having a device. It has changed how the district presents training to teachers and staff. By having a device to use, staff are now able to: offer additional support to students, participate in webinar training from their buildings which saves travel time and improves the availability to attend, access video webinars to learn new skills, and District #27 Moves to 1:1 Technology Continued p By: Barb Coffey, Technology Coordinator and Ashley Phillips, Curriculum Coordinator
