The Logan County Fair
Children often see the fair as a magical place that suddenly pops up one day, and mom and dad will say, “Let’s
go to the fair.” But the fact is, there is a lot that goes into putting together a successful fair.
Last fall, within just a few weeks of the 2011 Logan County Fair ending, the fair association board was looking
at the year to come.
This year there were changes in the amusement provider the board had to deal with, and there was the choice
of who would provide entertainment. They also had to make arrangements for repairs and upgrades to the
fairgrounds.
As the time draws close for the fair to begin, passers-by could see signs of the efforts of the fair board and a
number of volunteers.
Then came the day when the carnival pulled in and the rides started going up, the portable stage arrived, and the
queen committee started their decorating.
For those of us who look forward to the fair each year, it’s a wondrous sight that reminds us that we’re just one
step closer to another week at one of the greatest events in Logan County.
And, likewise, when things come to an end this weekend and the carnival is gone, the food vendors move on,
and the stage goes away, we may sigh with a bit of sadness and mark our calendars. We’re only 359 days away
from the next Logan County Fair.
