Dan and Kathy Jones
T
his lovely country home was built by Alvin and Lil Geyer in
1915.
In October 2003, Dan and Kathy Jones purchased the home
and began to make it a home for themselves and their children.
In 2010, they built the garage, laundry room, and a bathroom. They
remodeled and reconstructed the kitchen, opening it into the dining room.
This year they have replaced all windows, roof, and siding, as well as,
opened up the front porch. The master bedroom is in the process of being
remodeled.
The “old part” of the home still contains all of the old original
woodwork and columns in the living room. There are two stairways in
the house. The servants used the stairway between the kitchen and the
upstairs north bedroom while the family used the stairway at the front of
the house. There were two stairways to the basement but one was removed
when the garage was added. Presently the house has four bedrooms, living
room, dining room, kitchen, two bathrooms and a laundry room.
During the remodeling process, Dan and Kathy found the old gas
lighting structures were still in the ceilings. They found an old trough in
the attic that had allowed water to be pumped and flow freely down to the
faucets.
The home
is beautifully
decorated for
the holidays by
Kathy who is
noted for her
lovely floral
arrangements.
The styling of the
decorations lends
to the “country
home” feeling
of the house and
complements the
décor perfectly.
